SketchUp has become one of the most popular programs for three-dimensional (3D) modelling and is used by garden design professionals and interior design professionals. It is exceptionally easy to learn and, as its name suggests, allows you to formulate ideas on a computer using all its advantages but with the simplicity of sketching by hand.

This ability to model in 3D allows the designer to create structures, contours and landscapes, and add images, textures and shadows. The model can be fully rotated, printed off at any size and saved as an animation.

SketchUp is fully compatible with other computer aided design (CAD) programs and it is available for both Macintosh and Windows.
