May 2007 - The Inchbald School of Design, the first dedicated Garden Design School in the world, is delighted to announce the introduction of a new week-long garden sculpture course. This practical course, which was developed in conjunction with The Art Academy, is aimed at students and garden designers who wish to learn the art of sculptures specifically for the garden.
The course will provide a solid knowledge both in terms of sculpture and understanding the design process and materials involved. It will cover the different mediums employed such as concrete, clay, glass, stone and metal and will also address the issue of designing a piece for a specific outdoor location.
During the course, students will be supported by established design names and the in house staff that comprise the team at Inchbald. The students will also benefit from the experience of a visiting sculptor. Class sizes will be limited to 10 students per class so that each individual will receive the personal coaching that they need in order to flourish. At the end of the week, students will be asked to produce a final piece that they have been working towards from concrete, scrim or wire.
To enrol, applicants do not require formal qualifications, but must simply display a passion for art, design and gardening and the desire to learn. Whether students take this course as the beginning of a new career or simply think they would enjoy the experience, the skills learnt will be very valuable.
Garden Sculpture: 28 May – 1 June 2007, 9.30 am–4.30 pm.
Course costs £1020.00 (£953.19 + VAT)
