Students gain a thorough grounding in both the art and practise of interior decoration, preparing them to work initially as specialist members of larger design teams. The course covers the multiple skills required to complete high quality decoration projects. These include design skills, colour, light, finishes, upholstery, construction and drawing. The study of supporting crafts is comprehensive and includes both historic and contemporary perspectives. Academic lectures are supplemented by visits, seminars with experts and practical exercises, including assignments which address the multitude of problems faced by the residential interior decorator.
Interior Decoration Certificate
To plan space, storage and furniture layouts.
To present lighting plans, colour and fabric schemes with suitable decorative finishes.
To take clients' instructions and analyse the brief, identifying alternative solutions.
To prepare decorative schemes and present to clients.
Further Study...
After completing this course, students may wish to broaden their skills with a computer aided design course.
