The Diploma course is an intensive programme enabling students to study the professional skills of interior design at speed and in depth.
Students are introduced to design method through residential and commercial projects carried out in studio with professional designers giving tutorial support. Students are taught how to approach problem solving professionally using the rigour of the Survey, Analysis, Design methodology. Projects start simply, gaining in complexity as the course progresses.
Studio work is supplemented with lectures covering the full range of aesthetic and practical implementation issues. Core skills and knowledge are developed in modules covering design, construction, decoration, graphics and job administration.
Both manual and computer-based visualisation skills are developed throughout the course enabling students to leave with a comprehensive portfolio and a clear understanding of practical and professional issues. Careers advice is offered and, for forty-five years, Inchbald students have been finding work opportunities with well-known designers world-wide.
