About Us
The Inchbald School of Design, based in London, is an independent school of interior design, interior decoration and garden design, offering courses ranging from MA Degree and Postgraduate Diploma courses to short introductory courses.
The School has a long-established reputation for serious, practical training that is designed to prepare our graduates to enter the design professions. It attracts motivated and educated students from all over the world, enhancing the rich cultural environment of the School.
At the Inchbald, our aim is to make learning especially rewarding. All the courses, whether long or short, inhouse or online, are intensive and challenging. Design projects and coursework are generally based on real situations involving the kind of practical constraints encountered in the world of work.
Tutors and lecturers are well qualified and experienced and are usually practising designers themselves. Students have close working relationships with teaching staff, and receive a high level of support from tutors in the design studio.
Our Courses
The Interior Design School runs a wide range of inhouse courses: MA Degree and Postgraduate Diploma course in Architectural Interior Design, the intensive year-long Diploma course in interior design, Certificate courses in interior decoration – both full time and part time – and short courses.
The Garden Design School offers MA Degree and Postgraduate Diploma course in garden design course, the intensive one-year Diploma in Garden Design course and Advanced Studies in Garden Design, together with short courses.
Inchbald Online is for students who are unable to attend our inhouse courses or who need the flexibility of managing their studies alongside other commitments. We offer online courses in interior design and garden design, from one to three years, including Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Interior Design and Postgraduate Diploma in Garden Design courses. We are currently developing a series of new short courses for online study.
We also offer short CAD and drawing courses – interiors and garden – to support design students.
The School’s Location
The School has two buildings in the heart of London, within ten minutes of each other and within easy reach of the city’s museums, galleries and important centres of design and decoration.
Both buildings are close to Victoria Station and its excellent public transport facilities, which include the Victoria, Circle and District Underground lines, national rail links to Southern England, numerous buses and a steady supply of London taxis.

Overseas Courses
Inchbald has extended its professional educational services overseas to schools in Saudi Arabia and Portugal.
Future Training Institute, Jeddah, offers an interior design and decoration course leading to the award of an Inchbald Diploma in Design and Decoration.
Viterbo Arte & Design, Portugal, offers a year-long interior design course, studied by correspondence in Portuguese, leading to the award of a Certificate.
