Overview
The Wrexham Certificate in Interior Design and Decoration teaches awareness and appreciation of the subject helping you to analyse, evaluate and communicate your skills.
The course covers the evolution of styles and the history of design alongside the balance between functional and aesthetic elements. It can be studied as a stand-alone course or as the first stage of the BA (Hons) Architectural Interior Design.

Course content
The course establishes the overarching principles of design incorporating the core elements of design, scale, form, light, texture and colour.
You will explore the development of ideas and methods of visual communication, learning to consider a client's requirements and to organise and decorate a residential site via studio and workshops, exchanging ideas and experiences through round table discussions. Coursework includes a residential design scheme with full notes, keys, schedules and specifications, providing creative opportunity with the processes that underpin it. You will learnto evaluate and categorise information alongside the regulatory procedures, references and the specification of materials, fitments and equipment.
Who is it aimed at?
Those considering the interior design profession who want a short course with the option to extend to further study. This course forms the first part of the BA (Hons) in Architectural Interior Design – providing 60 credits at level 4 – which is a natural extension to the Certificate.
